Diversity, Inclusivity, Continuity, Safety
About Our Pillars

diversity
Diversity is something that should be strongly considered in our Stuyvesant community. In our vast number of students, not only do we have a community consisting of people with different races but also with different sexual orientation, different ideas, and different stories and all of that should be considered.

Inclusivity
That brings us to our next point inclusivity. Considering our diverse community will make sure our policies or our decisions are able to include the majority of the diverse community here.

safety
As current situations show, safety will be a big issue for students. We will make sure every decision of ours will not affect the safety of all students while striving to produce a fun and integrated community once again during these times.

continuity
We will continue to work for the sophomore class with the knowledge and experience gained from our previous work in the Freshman Caucus. Our previous goals and hopes for the students will remain the same and more will be built upon them.

Our Vision for Sophomore Year
This year is starting in a completely unprecedented way and we want to make sure students don’t have a hard time adapting to it. There are several standards we are committed to maintaining. First, we would like to continue actively communicating with the students to understand how we can help you best. It’s also important to us that our processes and actions remain transparent for students so that they can understand what decisions we make and how we execute them. We firmly believe active communication is the key to representing you. Secondly, creating a community within this school thats supports inclusivity and unity is key. We want to make sure that all of our actions represent students equally and impartially, while fostering our sense of community and promoting a friendly environment. Thirdly, we would like to emphasize our practice of choosing people for our cabinet from a diverse array of backgrounds to promote diversity of thoughts, ideas, and create a group of people who can represent all the different parts of our grade.
In addition to promoting our core principles, this year, we would like to implement our policies through a website. Many of our policies (below) are going to require a lot of coordination through online forms, and publishing resources that will only be open to reference after scouring through emails. For example, we plan on including signup forms for study groups, publishing study guides from other students, and having an open form for students to lodge complaints or frustrations they may be experiencing. Instead of having to re-publish these in folders and links every email, a website gives us a comprehensive platform which allows us to offer you all of our resources with much more accessibility.
