We understand that school has its frustrations. Between course selections, teachers who disregard the homework policy, and all kinds of questions that come up, especially during these uncertain times, we want to take that off of you. Our platform cares about your concerns, and here are four ways we plan to do that.

Advocating for Course Applications Transparency from the Administration
Oftentimes we hear Stuy students have been denied admission to participate in a certain course despite qualifying for it. We believe this is a problem. The answers we get from the administration are almost always “ there weren't enough seats”. We believe students deserve a better answer and explanation than that because we understand that students choose their classes based on their passions and aspiring futures. We would like to advocate for a more transparent system where the administration will be able to show more clear reasons for course rejections backed with more information than just “you were denied”. We hope that this increased level of communication gives students more insight into the course admissions process and more context to why they may have been accepted or denied so you can rest at night knowing exactly what happened, instead of being frustrated with a solid NO.
Platform to Answer Students’ Questions and Concerns
Once school starts, students will inevitably have many questions as the school’s systems and policies will change frequently. It is our job to prevent any confusions among students and elucidate any misconceptions. We plan to work closely with the SU so that you can receive the latest and most accurate information in the fastest way possible. Not only will we be open to answer your questions but we will also be available to help with any of your concerns. Although we may not always be able to present you with solutions, we have the ability to connect you with those who can. Students will have the choice of remaining anonymous and questions and answers will be presented to the grade.
Showing support for the HW/CW policy
We understand that school can be overwhelming and that just because school is online, teachers can lose sight of how much other work we may have. This is why we will continue to advocate on your behalf when there is a consensus that a teacher violated the 45 minutes of designated classwork time and 30 minutes of designated homework (1 hour for APs) time. Many of you reached out to Satvik or Julian over the course of the year and they sent an email to the teacher or head of department concerning your complaint. On behalf of the Park-Agnihotri campaign, you can rest assured that your voices will continue to be heard.
An Organizational System for Complaints
Building off our policy to stand by the classwork and homework policy and advocate on your behalf. We plan to create a google form attached to our website that allows you to lodge complaints about teachers violating policies and any problems you may have to be sent to the administration. Once you fill out the form, we advocate on your behalf (anonymously or not) to the administration or relevant teacher. This would allow us to structure and organize any complaints you bring forth instead of flooding email inboxes or facebook advice groups (which is usually rather messy). It also allows us to put more weight behind each email by allowing multiple people to formally back up the email and thus advocate on your behalf with more credibility.
Holding Open Caucus Meetings
In support of our promise to be transparent with the students, we think it's only fair for students to be able to participate in caucus meetings. This way, students will know what decisions are being made and will also have the chance to state their opinions about the matter on site. After witnessing our caucus meeting, students will have the opportunity to ask questions openly for Satvik, Gitae and the rest of the caucus to answer. This way can we truly represent the sophomore class.
